Who We Are

NIMHANS Brain Bank is India's premier human brain bank and the nodal centre of the ICMR-funded Brain Bank Network India. Established under the Department of Neuropathology, NIMHANS, Bengaluru, we have been at the forefront of brain research in India for decades.

As the nodal centre, we coordinate standards, protocols, quality assurance, and the central case database for all satellite centres in the network. Our collection represents the most comprehensive repository of human brain specimens in the country.

The NIMHANS Brain Museum — one of the finest in Asia — houses remarkable neuropathological specimens and serves as a landmark resource for education and public awareness about brain health.
